It’s always the quiet ones. That’s what you’ll think about Aruba after about three days of enjoying secluded stretches of beach, driving through the countryside, and dancing to the music at its many festivals. While it doesn’t get the press of the Bahamas or the hype of St. Lucia, we in the travel industry know that Aruba attracts the most repeat visitors of almost any other island in the Caribbean – which makes it perfect for, you know, your 10th anniversary. Especially if you’ve planned your Destination Wedding or Honeymoon there.
One of Aruba’s top selling points is its weather – mostly sunny, with no chance of Hurricanes. It’s far South of the Hurricane Belt, which means you can have a Spring, Summer, or Fall wedding with nothing more than an ocean breeze to lift your veil. Warm – with an average year round temperature in the high 80s, and easy-going, this island is a favorite for multi-generation parties.
For nearly-weds looking for an ideal Destination Wedding location, Aruba just might fill the bill. It’s only been ten years since Aruba legalized non-citizens to marry on the island, and while there are a couple hurdles, they almost just add to the island’s charm. Civil marriages must be performed in the bright teal Victorian Oranjestad Town Hall, even if your ceremony is to be held on a beach, at a resort, or wherever else later. And, all required documents must be translated into Dutch, and sent for review at least one month prior to the wedding date.
